ABSTRACT

This chapter examines some examples of organisational approaches to evaluation. In 1994 the Industrial Society reported the results of the Managing Best Practice Survey of personnel and training professionals. The Senior Management Team considers staffing and business performance issues at all meetings. In Queen Elizabeth's School, is funded directly and is entirely independent from the Local Education Authority. As an autonomous company within Baldwin pic, Newnorth Print devises and implements its own training plan, reviewing and updating it regularly. Gateshead College, located in the North East of England, is one of the largest colleges of further education in the country. Evaluation of training and development at Gateshead College has the core business of the institution at its roots. The accompanying documentation emphasises the importance and value of team and self-assessment not only in terms of achieving institutional objectives, but also enabling greater focusing of training and development actions on the individual staff members' personal and professional development.
