ABSTRACT
The health care environment in both developed and developing countries is changing at an unprecedented rate. To be prepared adequately to respond to these demands in healthcare, nurses must exhibit flexibility, independence, critical thinking, leadership and collaboration. Within an integrated service model, nurses need to make optimal use of new technologies while bearing in mind ethical considerations and financial constraints. Meanwhile, there is a growing emphasis on health promotion.
