ABSTRACT

A learning city increases participation in learning by devising innovative strategies to provide information where people gather, and proactive publicity campaigns to promote learning. To take advantage of learning, citizens of a learning city need to know about learning. A learning city will make information available at the workplace, at community centres, in shopping malls, through the media and everywhere people congregate. A strategy has been set in place to ensure accessible provision for each of the groups to information, advice and guidance and to learning itself. Of course the new technologies can also provide more sophisticated help with the process of information dissemination. The process of information-giving is well recognized to be a key element in a company strategy to get people into the learning habit. The media can offer a sympathetic and understanding ear to the world of learning, emphasizing new methodologies positively, explaining the why, the what and the how and describing success stories.
