ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on using the Internet in the curriculum. The curriculum areas includes Mathematics, English, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Citizenship, Geography, History, Design and Technology, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Religious Education, and Art and Design. Each of these areas of study is presented with an introduction and a number of related activities. The activities consist of preparation and activity notes designed to help users plan and carry out the lesson. Most of the curriculum areas have activities presented at Key Stages 3 and 4. All Key Stage 3 activities are linked to the Department for Education and Employment Schemes of Work. The activities try to use the full potential of the Internet. They are challenging and aim to help pupils become critical and largely autonomous users of information technology. The emphasis in Key Stage 3 is on the use of directories rather than search engines.
