ABSTRACT
In this chapter the authors look at trends in online learning in the wider context of the information society and continuing technological development to give us a view of the future. The education system is struggling to optimize its limited resources and inherited skill sets to respond to technological change. The term 'androgogy' is often used with respect to adult education only. The strategy will be supported by personal advisers, each helping the young people in their care to manage their relationships with educational, social, health and legal services - a comprehensive professional service, delivered by one agency, for all our young people. The marketing profession has been quick to see the opportunities in personalization. They believe each of technical issues, coupled with a fundamental incapacity or unwillingness of service providers, to come to terms with the notion of personalization, is due in part to an outdated notion of supply and demand.
