Team leaders will provide direction. The team leader's role is to challenge and support the team and to ensure the performance management approach is applied consistently to high quality standards.
Effective performance management is about changing ways, attitudes and behaviours, resulting in:
n improved self-esteem through recognition of contributions and achievements;
n improved staff capability through continuous learning and development;
n a better quality of teaching through setting objectives which require things to be done differently, and better and ongoing feedback/ discussion about classroom practice;
n better teaching through clarifying roles and priorities and setting high professional standards for all staff.
