ABSTRACT
Equal opportunity is centrally important to the lives of many students. Sensitive awareness and action enriches the educational experience of men and women, members of the majority and of the minority communities, able bodied and disabled people and people from all social groups and localities. Equal opportunity is about inclusion, justice, fairness and learning from and about the rich experience of many people and groups. In this chapter we argue that the principles of equal opportunities are those that underpin most models of good practice.
