Edwards (1997) found that MSW students who used e-mail to submit their journal entries in a social work diversity class seemed to incorporate more of the class issues into their journals than did students who handwrote their entries. She also found that students who used e-mail wrote more often than required, and carried on more of a "dialogue" with the instructor as they processed the information and/ or their own experiences. In a different study by Huff (1998), 67 percent of MSW students in a distance education class agreed that having individual e-mail journal partners enhanced their learning in their policy class.
