ABSTRACT

The main aim of this chapter is to explore whether and how it may be possible to use new methods for studying children's style in producing narratives that can be considered good, not only from a structural point of view, but also from an expressive and literary point of view. We present data collected in a pilot experiment that is part of a research project (Morani, 1991) aimed at finding, testing, and analyzing ways in which children who are becoming literate (during the first years of school) can actively participate in different types of writing experiences in order to become more aware of and expert in using different stylistic devices.
