ABSTRACT
Elementary science instruction plays a critical role in providing students with the fundamental educational experiences that contribute to the long-term development of sophisticated understandings of science phenomena. In these earliest years of schooling, students develop the ability and desire to question; they also begin to develop strategies to answer questions about the world around them (Tilgner, 1990).
