ABSTRACT

As a media literacy advocate, I believe it’s vital that mass media consumers know and evaluate not only the credentials and content but also the viewpoints and assumptions of mass media creators (including textbook authors) whose messages they utilize. That’s why I make it a point to disclose that information to my students, colleagues, audiences, and readers-even if it’s more than they might want at the time. I hope the following details about me, my research; and my philosophy will help you to place this book in perspective.
