ABSTRACT

Some understanding of the philosophy and mechanics of participatory research is important in beginning the dialogue process and in implementing the creation of books. Through participatory research, I have come to respect and love the groups of parents with whom I do my most important and personally fulfilling work. Teachers should become familiar with this kind of research and begin to incorporate some aspects of the practice into their own work. Its philosophy provides a grounding for the work discussed in this book. Becoming acquainted with the ideas of other educators who integrate this kind of research into their lives will definitely inspire our own work.
