ABSTRACT

French causative sentences have long proved problematic for syntacticians working in the standard generative framework because of the issues this construction raises both for Theta Theory and for the projection of arguments from the lexicon to D-Structure.1 To illustrate, consider the following example of a/azre-infinitive causative sentence:
