ABSTRACT

In chapter 1, section 1.5, there were set out the possible interpretations of a written natural language definition with respect to a representation of it in the language of thought. Throughout chapters 2 and 3, it was assumed that a definition could be processed as such, in one of the ways set out. In the course of attempting to spell out how the appropriate language of thought representation is obtained, various hypotheses about the internal language and its relation to natural language were made. Chapter 4 was largely concerned with the relation between s-selection and c-selection, but considerations of learnability relate these to the language of thought.
