ABSTRACT

Overnight, my family became smaller [his extended family was broken into two parts to be received by two sponsoring families in different towns] and was dropped in some place that did not seem to lead to anywhere. My wife and I were very worried. I didn't know much English, had no job, didn't know anybody or anything, and had four kids to feed. I had no idea what was ahead of us. My host family helped us in every way possible, and for that, I couldn't be more grateful. But just imagine how trashy you would feel when you found yourself suddenly without hands or legs and had to depend on others for even small things like buying food.
