ABSTRACT
The main goal of this chapter is to provide an analysis of the long-distance NP movement typicalIy found in complex predicate constructions such as the restructuring constructions that we introduced in chapter 1. The theoretical questions that will be addressed in this chapter are: How the local nature of NP movement can be derived within the theory of economy, and what allows an apparent violation of the locality requirement on NP movement in complex predicate constructions.
