ABSTRACT

This brief Latín vision is included in The History of the Church of Durham (Bk. 4, ch. 9) of Simeon of Durham for 1095. Boso, a knight of the bishop falls ill and for three days lies as if dead. During his vision, he is warned to first confess and undertake repentance and then to reveal what he has seen to his prior. He witnesses a procession of monks, proceeding toward a high wall without gate. Unlike other visionaries who are transported over the wall, he finds a little window and within sees a wide field of flowers where he recognizes many monks from Durham.
