Also called the Vision of a Reliable Man (Probus homo), this vision, is included in the Etienne de Bourbon’s Tractatus de diversis materiis praedicabilibus and entitled “De subvensione beatorum,” this work was written in Latin before 1261. It describes in a text of about 700 words, the man’s visit to a house of torment, to a river full of animals, which is crossed by a bridge. Mary helps him across the bridge, after which he returns to his body bearing a warning.
