ABSTRACT

Radar Radar, the Allied acronym for radio detection and ranging, was first developed in the 1930s. Scien tists in the U.S., Britain, and Germany pursued secret developmental work, bouncing radio signals into the upper atmosphere. In the process they noticed the phenomena of nearby airplanes and boats interfering with those waves. The resulting ability to produce and guide ultrashort electromag netic waves was a pivotal factor in the Allied vic tory in the war.
