ABSTRACT
Gliders Military gliders, one of the peculiarities of World War II, were serious military weapons that contrib uted significantly to the success of various airborne operations (q.v.) conducted by each side. Yet the entire history of practical military gliding is less than a dozen years, and they have not been used for military operations since the end of the war.
