ABSTRACT
The stage management team is responsible for running the rehearsal room, and for ensuring that the daily rehearsals run as smoothly and efficiently as possible (see Chapter 3 for a list of stage management duties). Before rehearsals begin it will be the stage manager's job to make absolutely certain that every member of the company receives a phone call and is given precise details concerning the venue for the rehearsals and the date and time when he or she is expected to attend for the first company meeting. If the director has any intention of getting the actors to do any physical activities on the first day, such as playing theatre games, or participating in a dance class, they should be prewarned by the stage manager so that appropriate clothing can be worn.
