ABSTRACT
Shakespeare acting – at root – is not different from ‘modern’ acting. Where it is different is in that his language uses words, phrases and expressions we no longer use; and (more importantly) the circumstances are invariably far away from our direct experience. It is your job (whether aspiring or professional) to steep yourself in the culture that influenced his plays if you are to perform pieces from them.
