ABSTRACT

Cassandra is a prophetess and a princess of Troy during the pointless and interminable siege of that city She is daughter of King Priam and sister of princes Hector, Troilus, and Paris. Earlier in the play she hysterically interrupts a council of war to warn of Troy’s imminent destruction, only to be dismissed as the victim of ‘brain-sick raptures’. Here she joins Andromache (Hector’s wife) and Priam in trying to persuade Hector not to enter battle on a day of ill omens.
