ABSTRACT
Silvia is the daughter of the Duke of Milan. She is in love with Valentine and loved by both Thurio and Proteus. (The latter has previously vowed his love to Julia.) She and Valentine plan to elope, but they are betrayed by Proteus to her father, who banishes Valentine. Proteus then starts to try to woo Silvia, but she spurns him. In this scene she has just appeared (at an upstairs window) and he tries again. This is her response.
