ABSTRACT
Since the 1960s, the use of computer technology in education has focused on means and methods to enhance the teaching process. For example, computer-managed instruction (CMI) provides teachers with automated record keeping and scheduling of instructional events. Other teaching applications have included simulations and games. In most applications, the purpose of the computer has been to augment teacher-directed instruction.
