ABSTRACT

‘Cold coffee’ is what we in German call something stale, e.g. subjects of discussion that are thoroughly worn out by having been put on the agenda again and again, something, in short, that everyone is fed up with. If much of what I am going to say will make you think of cold coffee, I will have to be prepared to accept your reactions accordingly; but to be honest – it is cold coffee for me, too! Then why bother to serve it all over again, you may rightfully ask, and this is, I think, where I will have to start explaining my point.
