FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT AND EMS
The FMLA provides an entitlem ent of up to 12 weeks of job-protected, unpaid leave during any 12 m onths for the following reasons:
• Birth and care of the em ployee’s child or placem ent for adoption or foster care of a child with the employee;
• To care for an im m ediate family m em ber (spouse, child, parent) who has a serious health condition; or
• For the em ployee’s own serious health condition.
