arts possess a special power to “communicate across the barriers of separate languages” (Bullock, p.158). Consequently, a world politics perspective that took account of cultural as well as governmental and economic associations/communications would need to be aware of the possibility of the “existence”/ relevance of a European humanist tradition, albeit one now widely disseminated by trade and conquest.
