ABSTRACT

Much of the literature, particularly the meta-analytic studies, continues to take a measurement perspective on the selection interview, placing special emphasis on such matters as reliability and validity. Some writers, however, have challenged undue emphasis on these psychometric issues. Of interest here is the review paper by ANDERSON. He compares and contrasts two main traditions – an objectivist-psychometric perspective and a subjectivist-social perception perspective. These apply not only to the employment interview but to selection more generally and reflect one of the contemporary debates in the literature on employee selection.
