ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4, “Using the World Wide Web for Research,” we introduced different ways to investigate topics using the World Wide Web. One of the ways to find information is to browse directories. Directories, or subject catalogs, are especially useful for those with such general questions like “What resources does the World Wide Web have on the Human Genome Project?” and “What kind of information is available on distance learning?” Directories can also help you find the best resources on a particular topic. For example, they would help with the questions “What are the best sites on the topic of science education?” and “What are the most useful consumer resources on the Web?”
