The Eastern Front 1941–42

Hitler’s June 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union – Operation Barbarossa – was a titanic clash of arms. Instead of the swift destruction of the Bolshevik state, however, Barbarossa locked the German Army into a vast and brutal attritional war on the Eastern Front.
