ABSTRACT
The proof of the pudding is in the eating; the time has come to eat. What have been the effects of the various soil conservation programs, public and private, since about 1930? The year 1930 as a reference point is used because, in spite of the difficulty of identifying any wholly satisfactory starting date for a process of historical change, that was just before the relatively large-scale soil conservation programs of the early New Deal days.
