ABSTRACT

How big is the remaining soil conservation job? What are the soil conservation needs of the country? It might seem that the difference between· the total soil conservation job as visualized from 1930 to 1937 and the accomplishments thus far would define the job still to be done. In reality the situation is not that simple. For reasons which we shall try to make clear, the objective is neither sharply defined nor constant. Since it seems essential to look at the matter more explicitly, we attempt here a brief appraisal of the size and nature of the uncompleted soil conservation job as it appears today.
