ABSTRACT

The important extension of Yellowstone boundaries has been discussed in connection with Mather's administration although the Norbeck Act was passed a few weeks after Albright became Director. Before the end of Albright's administration Yellowstone had reached somewhat its present proportions, with a bulge on the northwest corner, a smaller bulge on the northeast corner, and the east line following the crest of the Absaroka Mountains. The extension southeast to take in the high Thorofare region should have been but was not made, and the Jackson Hole country was added years later but to Grand Teton and not Yellowstone.
