ABSTRACT
Once the specific area has been chosen for development, the potential clientele identified, and basic requirements for infrastructure specified, it is necessary to examine a number of technical and economic elements in project design relating to settlement, land development, agricultural and forestry production, and marketing. Consideration also must be given to organization and administration in the formulation of policy to expand agriculture into humid forested regions. Discussion in this chapter focuses on how such factors impinge on project performance.
