ABSTRACT

Minnesota will be home to well over a million new residents in the next 25 to 30 years. Where they live, work, and play, and how they engage in these activities, will have a profound effect on the state’s water resources. Forces outside the state’s direct control, such as those emanating from the global economy or global climate change, also will have a marked influence on Minnesota waters. Under any foreseeable scenario, Minnesotans can expect the water-related problems they face to increase in severity and complexity as the state’s people, economy, and communities expand.
