ABSTRACT

Planning and delivering basic skills is different to doing the same for a course syllabus; it needs to be far more flexible. The trainer cannot tell how quickly students achieve, and their planning needs to be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Though, trainers are working with different levels of learning within one group, it is important that the individual needs of the students are reflected in the planning of the trainer. This chapter presents the ways of how students are progressing and what trainers need to teach them. It provides a small assessment task near the end of the half-term, which helps with Individual Learning Plans (ILP) of the trainer. ILPs are completed every half-term. On average, half terms are six weeks. Sometimes the trainer will need to push and suggest, but students tend to be more committed to their ILP if they are fully involved in the target setting and review.
