ABSTRACT

Rob Skelton considers how the principles of Best Value Review can be applied to evaluate and shape the development of support services. Following on from Gray's work he outlines additional criteria and themes that can enable a service to continually monitor its core functions and their effectiveness, making use of a range of performance indicators from stakeholder views and experience as well as performance outcomes relating to inclusion. In order to be proactive in response to the challenge of this process, he also considers the implications for professional development of all staff in the service.
