ABSTRACT
Introduction In addition to essays and examination questions requiring essay writing skills, students may be set other types of assessment. Mastery of essay writing, however; is still fundamental as the rules and basic structure can be applied and adjusted to fit other forms of assessment. It is important to obtain your university/college guidelines - especially the assessment guidelines - as they will help you to present your work in accordance with what is expected. Allow yourself time to think, plan and practise, and use any feedback from your tutor on your assignments constructively to improve your skills.
