ABSTRACT
Recent economic improvements in many countries have still left women in a much worse position than men – and in some countries the position of women has declined since the early 1990s. Women are, in general, given less well-paid jobs than men, and get paid less than men even when doing the same job. Likewise, although women are participating more in politics than before, most political leaders are men.
