ABSTRACT
There are some countries where the right for people to make their own sexual preference is recognized, and freedom in this domain has expanded markedly in recent times. But there remain political parties and governments that are committed to allowing only a narrow range of sexual activity. Those whose sexual preference takes them outside the norm – especially gay men – face pressures that are subtle and social when they are not open and political.
