ABSTRACT
In this model, taking from the environment, for example, for fishing, forestry or mining, means that the environment serves as a supply depot. In the second case we are adding to the environment, through pollution or the increased consumption associated with increased population. The environment is serving as a waste repository. In the third case, that of 'replacing', the environment is acting as a living space, as a source of amenity and livelihood.
