ABSTRACT
The transport of low-grade fuels can take many forms and may occur more than once during the fuel cycle (e.g. from mine to processing plant, from processing plant to place of conversion). Lignite or oil shale may be moved from the mine mouth to a nearby power plant by rail or conveyor belt. These fuels, as well as peat, industrial, municipal or mining waste, may be transported by truck, rail or barge.
