ABSTRACT

To administer the system of additional compensation created under the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage 1971 (1971 Fund Convention) (see Agreements), i.e. to provide supplementary compensation to victims of oil pollution damage in states which are Parties to the 1971 Fund Convention who, if the total amount of the proven damage exceeds the limit of the shipowner’s liability, cannot obtain full compensation for the damage under the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage 1969 (1969 CLC) (see Agreements).
