ABSTRACT

“We [in the USA] have become a very materialistic country, and I think almost everybody will admit that. In fact, I think it's probably true to say that Western society as a whole has become very materialistic. What we don't like to admit is that, as inescapably as night follows day, hedonism follows upon materialism. We seek the pleasure principle. We seek our own satisfactions, we seek our own pleasures, very often at the expense of children. The word on the street is: Johns prefer chicken – kids.” *
