Biochemical conversion of wet biomass The commonest biochemical process used to convert high-moisture waste biomass resources to bioenergy is anaerobic digestion, whereby bacteria produce biogas and landfill gas. Other biochemical processes are also used specifically for the production of transport biofuels such as ethanol, and these will be covered in Chapter 9.
