ABSTRACT
John Goldthorpe has been developing his own, highly original, version of class analysis since the early 1970s. Its origins are twofold: first, in his critique of liberal theories of industrial society; and, second, the subsequent extension of these criticisms to include neo-Marxist accounts of late capitalism.
