ABSTRACT

Education is concerned with the quality of growth and religious education in the junior school and with the growth of the child's spiritual understanding and experience. One upper junior class assembly children explained the work they had been doing over the term on the topic 'Light' demonstrating their science tasks and other aspects of the theme. It can be achieved by planning a programme of termly mini-topics which children encounter in both lower and upper school but at different levels of complexity and growth. Planning a core programme of Bible stories for lower school and upper school, is useful in ensuring that all children have experienced the central stories of the Bible. Similarly the place of worship in the school community is central, a focus of the values and philosophy of that community and a forum for the celebration of what is considered to be of worth.
