ABSTRACT

The earlier chapters of this book have offered a series of personal experiences and professional reviews of the progress that has been made in working towards the concept of a collaborative service for children with special educational needs in partnership with parents. In this chapter, some of the policy implications for local authorities and health authorities will be discussed, reflected against the increased demand all agencies are experiencing for assistance and in a climate of budgetary controls that are, by necessity, leading to a culture of case prioritisation for all agencies.
