ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an overview of Kent’s policy and procedures for Special Educational Needs in the early years with particular reference to the systems in North-West Kent. Specific references are made to the Code of Practice. We plan to concentrate on the role of the Early Years Assessment Manager (EYA Manager), take the reader through a step-by-step guide to Kent’s local decision-making process and identify the local provision availability. The procedures will be illustrated first hand by case studies of two pupils progressing through the system.
